Quarter of Eight represents
¼ of the original Chicago based Folk / Rock group Pieces
of
Eight formed back in the late
60's. Band Members Dave Bracken
and Ford Colley (shown left) have regrouped
some 35
years after the Pieces split
up and went their separate ways, having recorded only one record 'Run &
Hide' b/w
'If I Were A Carpenter'.
During a
visit
together in London
during the autumn of 2003, both having written several songs in the
intervening years, they decided to give it a try "one more time" and
have spent the past year recording and producing their material,
"It's sort of like 'Waiting For Guffman' meets 'The Rutles' ... " quips
Colley, "... we know our voices are way past prime and our musicianship
adequate, at best ... it shows how dangerous two slightly talented
individuals can be with their own digital recording lab." Bracken
added, "We really wanted to get our songs recorded, if for no other
reason than to have a permanent record of them ... besides, why let a
good recording studio and some OK songs go to waste!" With the
aid and support of their wives on this project (Dave's wife Liz is the
official photographer and helped design the CD cover, and Ford's wife
Mary sings backup and is the featured vocalist on "For A Moment"),
they've managed to throw together 20 new original songs in a collection
of eclectic musical styles and arrangements
So,here it is ...
their "long awaited" debut release ...
"Cobra"
featuring 20 New Original Songs
